The UWNN is happy to report on the first day of racing at North Bay Nordic. The women's squad skied 10 km skate individual start, and had a fast, hard course to work with. Both Heather Foley and Alison Stephenson posted quick times, but unfortunately at this time official results are not available.
In the 15 km skate mens individual start, UW's Henry Reich shocked the field with his 1st place finish, besting Colin Abbott of Carleton University by 6 seconds. The word around the Nordic Center was 'astonishment', as Carleton, Laurentian and many other schools could not understand who this 'Henry Reich' character was. This historic finish by a UW athlete is the best placing in the last 4 years, and today was only the first OUA race. Stay tuned, because you're not going to want to miss out on this season!
